Attend free seminars conducted by government or non profit organizations in your state which will be helpful in deciding the best option available for you to stop foreclosure. You can also consult any foreclosure assistance companies which offer free consultation for any foreclosure issues. But beware of unscrupulous companies, so do your homework, check their reputation and give them a call, speak with one of the professionals and you will be able to judge for yourself.

But always remember the first & the foremost step in stopping foreclosure is to inform your lender that you are going to miss your mortgage payments. There are many reasons why a lender would help you get out of a foreclosure. One, because it would be costlier for them if they foreclosed a home; second, they do it for good public relations.
