Good tips. It's important to make all the moves to save a home from foreclosure. Nowadays, too many houses are falling into this situation, making homeowners homeless!

There are companies that will pay a lump sum now for ALL future proceeds from structured settlements. I am not aware of any that will do a partial buyout. As the first answer suggested, depending on HOW the settlement is set up, you may or may not be able to access it. If you can, providing housing IS for the child's benefit and would probably pass any legal hurdles. If the settlement is being processed by a 3rd party of any sort, they would be the first place to ask for more information.
References :
If the settlement is in a trust you need to get the trustee's permission.
You may even need a family court judge to approve it. The money is meant for your son not you so be very careful and seek legal advise. The paperwork covering the rules and guidelines of the settlement should explain under what circumstances the money may be used.
Otherwise it is not supposed to be touched til the child is 21.
