Do I need to hire a title company to research lien on foreclosure if buying in Texas. Or is this public info?

Most of the information is public knowledge. If you want, go down to the county clerk's office in the county where the property is located, and begin your search there. (Most governments haven't fully gone online yet, but it could vary depending on your jurisdiction). You can find out all the information regarding a particular property address there.
